Senegalese Wrestling was a traditional sport that young men used to fight as a distraction, to court wives, prove their manliness, and bring honor to their villages. But now the sport transcended ethnic groups and is enjoying the status of national sport. Tournaments and championships which attract big crowds are arranged by business-promoters who offer prizes for the winners.
